Who we are
Midnight Manuscript runs this website and decides how the personal information collected through it is used.
What we collect
When you send an enquiry we collect what you type into the form: your name, your email address, your message, and any details of the request such as the genre, length or deadline of a manuscript. We also keep a one-way hash of your IP address and basic technical information, and we use Cloudflare Turnstile to check that the form is being filled in by a person.
Why
We use this information to reply to your enquiry, to prepare any quote or sample edit you ask for, to keep a record of our correspondence, and to protect this website from spam and abuse. We rely on our legitimate interest in running our business and answering people who contact us, and on taking steps at your request before entering into a contract.
How long we keep it
Enquiries are kept for 24 months. Submissions identified as spam are kept for 30 days. The hash of your IP address is kept for 30 days.
Processors
We use these providers to run the website and handle your information on our behalf: DigitalOcean (US) for hosting and storage, SendGrid for sending email, and Cloudflare Turnstile for spam protection.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of your personal information, ask us to correct or delete it, ask us to restrict or stop using it, and ask for it in a portable format. To do any of these, contact us using the form on this website. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
